Review Velocity and Star Rating: Read Both

Review velocity describes how many reviews arrive within a defined period. Star rating summarizes scores over a chosen set of reviews. They answer different questions; neither alone establishes product quality or explains store ranking.

Keep the window visible

Compare the same dates, market, and source. Record counts alongside averages: a handful of new reviews can move a small sample substantially.

Look for context

A new release or campaign may coincide with changing review volume. That timing is a question to investigate, not proof that one caused the other. Avoid claiming a ranking algorithm rewards a metric without evidence.

Use sample data honestly

Make the review useful
